Pamper your Cymbals
Here are two products that work superbly well together: CymbalChief and The Grombal. Yes, one would almost think that they were conceived by the same person. But in fact this is not the case, even though the manufacturer is the same today.
This special cymbal holder replaces everything that sits on your cymbal stand. However, you can choose to leave the flat (or curved) lower metal washer on, if the stand is of that type.
The idea is - in addition to simplifying the cymbal holder itself - to give more freedom of movement to your cymbal, and thereby a more open sound. This can be done because the holder is designed in such a way that it can follow the cymbal in its movements.
The Grombal is actually intended as a protection against keyholes. Should you already have a keyhole, then The Grombal also acts as protection against the existing keyhole getting worse.
But The Grombal does something else, too. Because with its soft rubber-like material, it actually allows mounting your cymbal directly on a completely bare cymbal stand - well, without the risk of the cymbal being damaged. You can watch a video here that shows this. The soft material simply gives a good freedom of movement in the cymbal.
CymbalChief and The Grombal also fit together perfectly. As you can see in the illustration below, they have the same diameter, and The Grombal can thus rest on top of your CymbalChief.
This gives the cymbal even better conditions to work under. In part, you get Grombal's protection, but also the good freedom of movement from CymbaChief.
It is incredibly easy to use this setup. Your Grombal sits permanently on the cymbal and therefore accompanies it in the bag when you pack your cymbals. You can thus take the cymbal directly out of the bag, and lay it down over your CymbalChief.
