Imagine that you sit down with a drum on your thighs. You have just sat down to tune the drum, so the only thing to do now is to make it sound just right!
You start to turn the drum key in order to tighten the drum head a bit. But nothing really happens... You turn again, but still nothing happens. Then, you turn a bit more... and suddenly the drum head jumps a whole tone up. It's too much. So now you need to tune it down, push the drum head with your hand, and start over.
This kind of annoyance can be avoided, and it doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.
You just need to use the clever product from Drum Dial called Bearing Edge Conditioner (BEC).
What BEC does is to grease up the edge on your drum. Thus, the drum head will slide smoothly over the edge when you're tuning the drum. By doing this, you'll avoid the situation above.
