If you dream of that classic, round bass drum sound that only felt straps can provide, then it's Danmar's felt straps you need to get your hands on.
This classic damping technique provides excellent control over the drum's resonance, resulting in a full, deep, and typically round tone.
The strap is made of high-quality felt that effectively muffles unwanted overtones.
The installation is relatively easy, although you will need to remove the drumhead to complete the mounting.
1) Once you have removed the bass drumhead, place a strip of felt (or two, depending on your preference and desired level of damping) across the inner side of the drumhead, ensuring that the ends stick out equally on both sides of the drumhead.
2) Now, carefully flip the drumhead over and place it back on the drum, making sure not to dislodge the strap. Maintain the strap's position until the drumhead is securely in place.
Note: It's okay if the strap is loose at this stage.
3) With the drumhead in place, reattach the hoop onto the drumhead and loosely fasten the tension rods.
4) Before tightening the tension rods, it's important to pull on the strap from each end, ensuring that the felt is fully stretched. Only then will you achieve the desired damping effect.
Whether you play rock, jazz, funk, or any other genre, Danmar 519 felt straps will deliver the classic sound, control, and versatility in your bass drum that felt straps are known for.
