Are you in search of something truly unique? Look no further because Byrne Cymbals are the epitome of uniqueness!
Ray Byrne, whom you can learn more about here, handcrafts cymbals in his small workshop in the USA.
This particular ride cymbal is known as a "Quarter Turk," referring to the degree of lathing on the cymbal's surface. If it had not been lathed at all, it would be a "full turk." In this case, the underside is fully lathed, and the top is only half lathed, resulting in a "quarter" of the raw surface remaining—hence, a Quarter Turk cymbal.
This ride cymbal delivers a dry and highly controllable sound, never spiraling out of control when you play around with it. In practical terms, you can tap, strike, nudge, and sway it without it becoming overwhelming. Consequently, you get a (jazz) ride that is incredibly inspiring to experiment with.
