About the cymbal
Here, we have one of the fantastic cymbals by Ray Byrne, more specifically, a 20" Extra Light Sizzle Ride (or Rivet Ride, if you prefer).
It's a cymbal that's somewhat dry in many aspects but with the added rivets, it acquires a lovely fullness. These rivets are slightly larger and produce a more robust sound compared to regular sizzles.
This cymbal is incredibly malleable in terms of its tonal character when you play it. Even with plenty of "sizzle" around your stick strokes, they stand out in a truly unique way. There's a sense of spaciousness while working with this cymbal amid everything else happening.
The cymbal possesses an overall dry, lightly trashy, and exceptionally distinctive sound with a relatively short decay (although, of course, extended for a while by the rivets).
