To achieve maximum strength in your bass drum port hole, it is important that the edge is completely uniform all the way around the edge.
When you want to mount a Bass Drum O's in your front head, it is also important that the hole is uniform and round. This is so that the parts fit together properly, when mounting the Bass Drum port hole system.
When you need to cut the hole in your drum head, it is a really good idea to put a piece of cardboard underneath. This ensures that you have a surface that the cutting wheel can cut into. It also ensures a stable cutting process, and then it wears less on your cutting wheel as well.
