Here’s a very well-crafted ride cymbal from Anatolian’s Emotion series.
At first glance, it’s both classically Turkish and seemingly quite standard – but it stands out by being particularly successful in all the right places.
The sustain has a nice calmness to it and never becomes overwhelming. You can hear it, and it adds body – without taking over.
At the same time, you get a clear, slightly dark stick definition, making it easy to hear your time when playing.
And if you need to turn things up a notch, it also works well as a crash-ride at medium to higher volumes.
The bell is nicely defined and warm.
All in all, a well-balanced and musical ride that plays naturally – and sounds just the way you’d hope it would.
